Anchors Make a Big Difference

An anchor is an actual physical movement or gesture or word or phrase that you use to infuse yourself with a particular desired state. The anchor means something to you and takes you where you want to go, or maybe better said, it keeps yu where you want to be. The state or ‘presence’ you want to anchor would be something like: confidence in a particular type of situation, the ability to recall necessary facts during a presentation, the ability to remain calm during a certain type of stressful situation, or even to produce a general sense of well-being anytime you want it. Believe me! Anchors really work!

The anchor can be a word or a physical gesture or touch, whatever you’re comfortable with and is sort of inconspicuous (so you can use it in public). It’s important to keep in mind that the anchor you choose needs to be reserved for a particular desired state, so it should be a gesture, touch or word that you do’nt usually use.

When you set up an anchor, it needs to be reinforced, so make sure to repeat the process described below a number times over the day or even for several days.

  1. Decide upon the anchor you will be using: either a physical sign or gesture or a word or short phrase.
  2. Choose a situation or mindset that you want help with. It can be anything, as long as it’s important to you and your success. It needs to be something for which you want to behave in a certain way or one that you want to have a particular emotional focus for. Just decide what state or situation you want to set your pro-active anchor for.
  3. Create an excellent state in yourself, one that would make you feel as if you are successful in what you are wanting to do or be.
  4. Next recall any and all times you felt some aspect or aspects of that state, amplify it/them ; feel really powerful, really confident or excited or calm.  Keep doing that till you feel as strong a state as you can.
  5. Each time you think of a time in which you felt some aspect of that state, see what is most visually positive & compelling. (either use memory or imagination)
  6. Hear what is most positive & compelling. Hear any words that others said or that you could say that are most mentally positive & compelling. (either use memory or imagination)
  7. Feel whatever internal sensations and emotions are most positive & compelling, are you feeling confident or happy or super calm?
  8. Now, see yourself standing in a nice place, fully feeling that state and see how you look in that state, your facial expression, your posture, you can even add energy of just the right color streaming into your aura.
  9. Now, once you are in that positive state, fully feeling it and feeling oh so successful with it that state, use the anchor you selected – - while remaining in that state. Hold your focus, hold the anchor gesture or repeat the word while you savor that state.
  10. When you are ready, let the anchor go and relax into your normal daily activity.
  11. Use this anchor in any situation where you need that state. You can even use it before the situation arises – as you are thinking about it.

*Remember to do this a number of times over the next couple of days to help strengthen this anchor.
*Make sure that the anchor you use is unique for the state you are going to establish in yourself.
*Make sure that when you create the anchor, that the state you are in is as intense as you can get it.
*Be sure to use your intention to amplify the state when you use an anchor. Don’t just do it passively.
